A List of Things I Would Never Tell You
Seven Dirty Secrets About My Life With Dogs-
- I worry about Bruiser, he’s getting older and we talk about how he feels each morning on our walks. Then I let this go for the rest of the day.
Then I feed him more treats than the other two dogs when we get back.
And then I feel guilty – Every. Single. Time. We have to keep weight off.
- I never thought I would live with dogs and my passion for living with dog would literally take over – when I was younger this didn’t cross my mind – even once. I wanted to be an actor.
- I never walked my childhood dog(s). It doesn’t make any sense but they didn’t play a large role in my life growing up. My parents are baffled by my *life with dogs*.
- My dog Walter chews on blankets. I’m not sure why. He’s a really good boy but sometimes he just has to chew on a blanket – only blankets. I’ve done nothing to address this other than re-direct him to a puzzle toy.
- I would like to be a dog trainer (sort of) but I don’t want to take all the courses to become certified. And it’s just easier to go to Nosework…
- My dog, Shermie, likes to hump his brother, Walter, when he gets excited. Some of you have witnessed this – I’ve read a hundred books about it. He gets over excited and then well he’s humping Walter… I also re-direct him to a puzzle toy or he goes on a leash.
- Sometimes Bruiser our old dog growls at Walter and Shermie and shows a few teeth – So it’s not a happy pack all the time. Sherm has a lot of anxiety and I think we can all feel that and it annoys Bruiser.
Ha ha ha ha, #6 is pretty funny, and not abnormal! You have a full and rich life – and so do your pups!
Thank you! I hope I’m not the only one with an old dog that doesn’t always want to tolerate the energy of a much younger doxie!
This is a really adorable post. I loved it and can relate to several of these items.
Thank you! I appreciate hearing this as sometimes I think I’m a crazy dog lady – and Shermie with the humping (lol!)…
