Wordless Wednesday: Bald Eagle Sighting
We finally saw a Bald Eagle on this trip to Fort Stevens State Park. And I cannot believe we were lucky enough to get a pic. It was clearly hunting for breakfast and the doxies looked delicious I’m sure! This is where the mouth of the Columbia River meets the ocean and the views are spectacular. You can drive right on the beach, open the doors and start the hike.
Some digging action can be found on You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCGaAqoklf8
Wow, that’s really awesome! You’re very lucky to spot one!!
It looks like you all had an amazing day at the beach!!
We are a little bit jealous!! Love x
Thank you! We feel super lucky to live so close to the coast. We were VERY lucky…
That’s pretty cool and to get a photo is not easy!
Thank you! We took a lot of pics 🙂 with two cameras. OMD!
What a beautiful sight but be careful! 🙂
I honestly was a little nervous – didn’t see much else for him to eat!
Cool! I don’t think I’ve seen one outside of a zoo. The Bald Eagle that is! I’ve seen plenty of dachshunds though!
I hadn’t either so it was a great surprise! I think he was looking for breakfast — and the doxies looked good to eat!
We were just admiring your photo on Instagram! Too cool!
Thank you! I had to take like 25 pictures to get one good one!
my Callie LOVES digging in the sand too! Dig hole, put head in…..dig another hole….
Right!? It’s like the best day ever for a dog on the beach!
What a great picture!
Thank YOU so much! It was a crazy sighting… 🙂
You caught a beautiful photo of the eagle too!
Thank YOU! Their wing span is so much larger than I would have thought!
Oh my gosh, it sounds amazing there! The eagle image is just gorgeous!!
Thank you! We are lucky to live in Oregon! It took a lot of pics to get this one 😉
Aren’t they incredibly majestic?
I’d be afraid of one of them picking up the dogs, though!
It was pretty awesome to see and that wing span is crazy! It was actually so big it was hard to believe it was a bird… amazing!!
Wow, that’s an amazing picture. We sometimes take trips up to northern WI and have seen a few – but have never caught them on camera.
Thank you! We just got lucky and he was flying pretty low so double luck for us!
I love Astoria! It’s one of my favorite places to take my dogs [especially on weekdays because the beach is pretty empty!]. I haven’t been to Fort Stevens in a long time, but that was always fun to do when I was growing up. Great pictures, the bald eagle sighting is awesome!
Us too! Astoria is so pretty and I love that bridge! Thank you! We found that “B or C” entrance that’s far enough down we didn’t run into any other dogs which was great. So cool you grew up in that area! Thanks for hopping over!
Great picture of the eagle. That looks like a great spot to hang out and have some fun.
Thank you! We got lucky that the Eagle flew low enough to get a lot of images. 🙂
