Gold Paws Series Coats: 5 out of 5 stars

Since Walter is the one wearing the coat – I’m staring with his .02 about the features and the fact that this coat keeps him from getting soaking wet.

Jacket Review -Walter’s POV: No Velcro. This is my favorite part of the jacket. I hate it when Mom has to rip that velcro to take my coats off – the Buckle. Is. Silent. Other than that, this coat has a warm, fleece layer on the inside and water repellent exterior. I like the color and I can still run in it. I’m super long as a wiener dog and it’s hard to find a coat that fits ALL of my body but this coat covers every part.

Five out of five stars – Gold Paws Series – My Review:

  • Portland Pullover or Astoria Overcoat: I honestly don’t know which model I purchased for Walter at Sellwood Pet Supply but I do know if you’re looking for a coat for a long Standard Doxie, this coat fits well and keeps them dry.
  • They hold up well in the wash: I have washed this coat every day for almost a week since it’s raining ALL the time and this coat has held up nicely.
  • The coat not only keeps Walter dry but the fleece layer keeps him warm as well. And I can have another layer underneath if it’s really chilly.
  • The coat is stylish and there were a lot of colors to choose from… there is reflective piping which is a nice touch as well
  • Price: I paid around $60-70 which isn’t cheap but it was worth it – he wears it every day. Perhaps purchasing directly from their site has a less expensive option.

My other favorite brand is Ruff Wear and Shermie’s coat is amazing but it just doesn’t fit the doxies. I have Ruff Wear’s Quimby for the mini-doxie and it’s a perfect coat for colder temperatures but it’s simply not long enough for Walter. So if you haven’t tried Gold Paws Series yet and you’re looking for an Oregon based brand, check out their site and head over to Sellwood Pet Supply.

  1. “Washable” is our #1 criteria here in Seattle too 🙂 I’m glad you found a jacket that works. I love, love, love Ruffwear stuff too but I also have a difficult time getting it to fit my Doxies. I am bound and determined to get that Webmaster Harness to work (the problem there is chafing in the arm pits).

    • Seriously, lately I’ve been washing these coats twice a day! Its so muddy here – today we got a break from the rain which was really nice. Try Ruffwear’s Quimby jacket on your guys as it fits our mini doxie really well as far as length goes and it’s toasty for snow. I love that Webmaster harness but I hear you – I’ve only used it on bigger dogs! It’s such a great product though. And it’s nice to use it to lift them over fallen objects!!

  2. Living in Florida now, I miss cooler weather for many reasons. Being able to use cute, winter coats like this is near the top of the list! They seem wonderful and, from the comments, quite durable too!

    • Oh I’m super jealous you’re in Florida! It has been raining here non stop. It IS fun though to get the winter gear out for sure. Super durable coats – and local companies which is cool. Where in Florida are you?

We have a Gold Paws fleece for our small dog. Nelly loves her fleece and is happy to wear it inside and outside!

    • Thanks! Don’t you love these coats?! I have another one that’s just fleece and indoor/outdoor for our mini doxie and it’s worn all the time! Are you in the Pacific NW? I didn’t realize they were made locally….
